Donna worked at Nora Springs Care Center for 29 years, and our daughter Angela has worked there for 28 years and counting. This facility is like family to us.Our biggest goal was to help Donna regain her strength—enough to stand up, move around on her own, and return to the comforts of daily life at home. The staff supported her every step of the way, and we’re incredibly grateful. A few team members really stood out—Yesi on third shift, as well as Jean and Crystal. Their kindness, patience, and care meant the world to Donna.She especially enjoyed being in the lunchroom, visiting with others, waving to the lady who sat across from her, and just being around people. That social connection was so important to her.Nora Springs has always had a strong reputation, and after seeing the quality of care they provided firsthand, I can say it’s well deserved. The staff are kind, attentive, and genuinely care about the people they serve. I’d recommend them to any family looking for a place that treats their loved ones with respect and heart.

After undergoing multiple surgeries to treat a diabetic ulcer and infections in my foot, I found myself in need of a place where I could heal safely—especially since I’d recently moved back to Mason City after my wife passed away. She’s not only taken great care of my foot but is also an outstanding teacher, showing other nurses how to care for similar wounds. I knew I wanted to be close to my daughters and their families, but I also knew I didn’t want to live with them. With my macular degeneration progressing, I needed a place where I could maintain my independence but still get help when needed—and I was delighted when a spot opened up at Summit Heights Independent & Assisted Living.Since moving in, the team has supported me in so many ways. For example, when I gave up driving, they made sure I could still get to my medical appointments. That kind of practical support has made a big difference in my life.What I didn’t expect was how much I’d enjoy the little things—like looking out my front door and seeing green grass and beautiful trees. My apartment is just the right size for someone like me who’s downsized, and it feels like home.The staff here is wonderful. Two people in particular—Shanna and Jordan really brighten my days. I’ve also made friends, and I enjoy our yoga group, the “moving to music” sessions up at the care center, and being able to attend church right on campus.I’ve even become a bit of an unofficial ambassador—I give tours to friends and family when they visit and tell them all the reasons I love it here. The care is solid, the apartments are thoughtfully designed, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. I truly believe Summit Heights is a great place to live.

When Todd first came to Nora Springs, he wasn’t doing well. He had been diagnosed with cerebral frontal dementia and was experiencing intense brain fog. His memory was slipping, his balance was poor, and he could barely walk—even with a walker. Honestly, at that point, our biggest hope was simply that he could survive and be comfortable.We chose Nora Springs because it was close to home, and we had heard excellent reviews. From the very beginning, we saw why people spoke so highly of the facility. The team provided Todd with the care and encouragement he needed, and that support made all the difference.Today, he no longer uses a walker or a cane. He’s self-sufficient primarily and has made incredible progress, even if his condition still has its ups and downs. We say he’s either “on the mountain” or “in the valley”—but thanks to the team here, those mountain days are more frequent.Everyone at Nora Springs does a fantastic job. The staff not only meet his needs, but they truly care. They even know he likes soup for breakfast and make sure to save it for him when they can—small things that show just how much they pay attention.He enjoys using his iPad, playing games like Monopoly, doing puzzles to keep his mind and motor skills sharp, and attending the weekly church services. He especially loves music therapy when it’s offered.I would absolutely recommend Nora Springs to any friend or family member. The care is reliable, compassionate, and consistent. They treat Todd with dignity and patience, and that means everything to us.
